Beaches in Dubai

Public beaches in Dubai

You can find many beautiful beaches in Dubai with a clear blue sea and the beaches are the perfect way to relax after a long day of shopping in Dubai. Some beaches are private beaches of hotels or beach clubs, which you can only visit as a guest and for which you have to pay. But fortunately there are enough public beaches in Dubai which you can visit for free. On this page you can read all about these public beaches!

What are the best beaches in Dubai?

The most popular beach in Dubai is probably the JBR beach near the Dubai Marina. On this beach you will find many hotels, shops and tourists. The beach has many facilities such as rental of beach beds, water sports activities and showers and toilets. The beach is located along a long promenade with many shops and restaurants and from the beach you have a view at the Bluewaters island with the Ain Dubai, the largest Ferris wheel in the world. Another popular beach in Dubai is Sunset Beach, also called Umm Suqeim Beach. The beach owes its name to the beautiful view at the Burj Al Arab hotel with sunset. On this beach you will find restaurants, changing rooms and showers. A little further down you will find Kite Beach, which is also one of the most popular beaches in Dubai. As the name already suggests you will find a lot of kite surfers in the sea along this beach. You can also take kite surf lessons yourself at Kite beach and rent beach beds, do all kinds of water sport activities, eat at restaurants and food trucks and there is a large skate park. The Jumeirah Open Beach is popular with families and here you will find the La Mer beach area with the Laguna water park and many restaurants and cafes. Between the Jumeirah Open Beach and Kite Beach you will find Mercato Beach, near the Mercato Mall. This beach is a more quiet beach in a residential area and is ideal if you want to avoid the crowds. This beach does have fewer facilities but you can easily walk to Mercato Mall. Another quiet beach in Dubai is the Black Palace beach, also called Hidden Beach or Secret Beach. On this relaxed beach you can look out on the Palm Jumeirah and the Burj Al Arab. Here you can find peace and enjoy the view, but there are no facilities. Finally, in Old Dubai you will find the Al Mamzar Beach Park, where you have access to four beaches and to three swimming pools and bbq places. You have to pay a small fee to access this beach park, but you will have access to all kinds of facilities such as the green park, changing rooms, showers, restaurants, beach beds and water sport activities.

Dress code beaches Dubai

There does not seem to be any dress code on the beaches of Dubai and there is little difference to beaches in other countries. However, it is not allowed to sunbathe topless in Dubai as is permitted in some other countries. But otherwise you see girls in bikini with strings and guys in swimming trunks as you are used to on the beach. Please note that you are not allowed to wear your beachwear outside the beach such as the beach promenade along the beach or in the shops and restaurants at the beach. Make sure you shorts and a t-shirt on in case you leave the beach area!

Private beaches and beach clubs in Dubai

In addition to public beaches, there are many private beaches and beach clubs in Dubai. If you want to spend a day at the beach on the Palm Jumeirah or The World islands, you can only do that if you visit a beach club for a fee. Often the beach clubs offer a swimming pool as well.
